Fraction Accent

Hello!!

Today is Thanksgiving! Just wanted to say that I am grateful for the opportunity I have to share my talent of nail art with others through this blog. It has been so much fun for me and I hope to continue posting for as long as I can.

The manicure that I did this week was inspired by another manicure I saw online. For this look you will need two colors of nail polish and striping tape.

I started with a base coat of OPI nail envy. I then did two coats of Sei Bella crushed berries. Once that was completely dry, I placed a piece of striping tape vertically down the middle of my ring finger nail. I then placed two pieces of striping tape horizontally, attached to the first piece of tape so that it covers the upper left side of the nail. I then placed another piece of tape horizontally in the middle of the first piece of tape, so that it covers the right side of the nail. The last pieced of tape was placed horizontally attached to the first piece of tape, so that it covers the bottom left of the nail. I then painted over the entire nail with OPI alpine snow. I then carefully removed all of the striping tape. I did the same thing on my thumb finger nail. When it was all dry, I finished my manicure with a fast drying top coat of IMN out the door.

Fun, right?! I love the contrast that the accent nail brings to the manicure. It is pretty simple. You just need to be careful when placing the tape and removing it so that the lines come out clean. I hope you enjoyed this look and I will see you next time!

Drizzle

Hey!!

This week I was able to try out a manicure that I saw on a video tutorial online. It was the first time I had ever tried something like this and it was so much fun!! For this manicure you will need three colors of nail polish and a toothpick.

I started off with a base coat of OPI nail envy. I then did one stripe of Sei Bella Vintage Mauve right down the middle of the nail and then painted one stripe of Sei Bella Imperial Purple to the left and one stripe of Orly Buried Treasure on the right, so that I had three vertical stripes. While the nail polish was still wet, I used my toothpick to draw zig zag lines that went horizontally across the nail, so that it swirled together and looks like a drizzle. Once that was completely dry, I finished my manicure with a fast drying top coat of INM out the door.

Isn't that so pretty?! I will admit, I was a little scared to do this design, but with a little practice it became simple. I did have to do a couple fingers over just because I was figuring out how to make the lines with the wet nail polish. It helps to do them a little more spaced out and then go back and make some more lines. The trick is to do it quickly, while the polish is wet. As you can see, some lines were done closer and other were done further apart and that changed the look of the design, (like my pinky finger). Well, I hope you enjoyed this look and I will see you next time!

Gold Leaves

Hi there!

So this week I really wanted to do something related to fall weather and leaves. I was really bummed that I don't own a nail art paint brush and I have decided that I am going to get one very soon. I did the following mani with a white, bronze and gold polish and I used a dotting tool to create the "leaves". I really think it would have turned out better with a brush, but I was still very happy with the outcome and think this is a very pretty manicure.

I started out with a base coat of OPI nail envy. I then did two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. Once that was dry, I used a small sized dotting tool and Orly Buried Treasure to paint on the top right corner of the nail and the bottom left corner of the nail, three lines so that it looks like an arrow coming out of from the corner. Again, it would look more like leaves if I would have used a brush to draw fuller lines instead of the thinner lines I made with the dotting tool. I then went in with Julep Sienna, going over the exact same lines I just made with the bronze colored polish, so that it creates an outline, still showing the bronze color alongside it. Once it was completely dry, I finished my manicure with a fast drying top coat of INM Out the Door.

Isn't that so pretty?! If you take a look at the pinky finger, that bottom corner leaf turned out the best, that is what I was going for. See the difference? Either way, I was happy with this manicure. I really like the combo of white and gold. I hope that you enjoyed this look and I will see you next time!

Half moon with French tip

Hey!

This week I decided to do a look that I had seen online a while back but never gotten a chance to try. I was familiar with the half moon look but I had never seen it paired with a french tip. For this manicure you will need two colors of nail polish and a small dotting tool.

I started with a base coat of OPI nail envy. I then did two coats of Julep Margaret and let that dry. Using a small dotting tool and the color Julep Jennine, I drew an arch, starting a little below half way on the nail, so that it looked like a half moon. I then used Julep Jennine to paint the area above the arch. Once that was dry, I used Julep Margaret to paint the tip of the nail. I finished my manicure with a fast drying top coat of INM Out the Door.

What do you think? I know I picked really bold colors, but I love this look. I would love to see this with more toned down colors. If you don't feel so confident drawing the arch with the dotting tool, you could use a reinforcement sticker and place it at the cuticles as a guide to make the half moon. Same thing with painting the tips, except use striping tape as a guide. Well, I hope you enjoyed this look and I will see you next time!
